USCIS vs ICE

Many people don’t understand the difference between these federal agencies.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is a bureaucratic agency, which does paperwork. They sit in the offices, review paper files and make decisions on immigration cases.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is more like police. They do field investigations. These guys are actually somebody who can knock at your door in the middle of the night and put cuffs on your wrists.

While reporting marriage fraud, USCIS is more relevant.

But if a question is “Should I report marriage immigration fraud to USCIS or to ICE?” the answer is “Report to both”.
